Denok Miranda keyed a fourth-quarter break-away to lift Petron Blaze to a hard-earned 75-66 win over Barako Bull Friday in the 2011 PBA Philippine Cup at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

Miranda had seven points in the Boosters’ decisive 15-2 run to turn a 60-62 deficit into a 75-64 advantage with 1:19 remaining as Petron notched its fourth straight win for a third-best 7-3 win-loss mark.

The 6’0 former FEU guard finished with a game-high 21 points while Arwind Santos added 15 markers and 14 rebounds. The comebacking Lordy Tugade contributed 11 in his return with the Boosters.

“Denok (Miranda) played like noong championship (Governors’ Cup finals). Nung off ang shooters namin, he stepped up. Lordy stepped up big also,” said Petron head coach Ato Agustin.

The PBA on Tuesday received a three-way trade proposal involving Ginebra, B-MEG, and Barako Bull that would allow the Gin Kings to shore up its frontcourt rotation.

InterAKTV broke the news early Tuesday morning that Ginebra was eyeing B-MEG’s Rico Maierhofer and Allein Maliksi. In the same deal, the Gin Kings would send Yancy de Ocampo to B-MEG and Jimbo Aquino to Barako Bull.


 
Rain or Shine reclaimed the solo lead with a masterful 93-81 win over Barako Bull in the 2011 PBA Philippine Cup Friday night at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City.

Ronjay Buenafe unloaded 12 of his 16 points in the fourth period while rookie Paul Lee provided stability for the Elasto Painters, who extended their winning streak to five games for a league-leading 7-1 win-loss mark.

Lee topscored Rain or Shine with 17 points and together with Buenafe and Jireh Ibanez helped their team sustain the big lead as the Energy lost steam in their attempt to stage a rally.

“We came into this game prepared because we respect Barako Bull. We knew it would be a difficult game,” said Elasto Painters head coach Yeng Guiao.

“Our game plan was to play team defense. Buti na lang na-sustain namin,” he added.

Rain or Shine pounced on the fourth quarter ejection of Barako Bull coach Junel Baculi as it repulsed repeated rallies to hack out a 93-81 victory that snared it the solo lead in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City Friday. 

Paul Lee came through with a solid all-around performance with 17 points, seven rebounds, four assists and a steal as the Elasto Painters zoomed to the top with a 7-1 (win-loss) record while leaving behind the Talk N' Text Tropang Texters, their erstwhile co-leader now on second place on a 6-1 card. 



 
MANILA, Philippines - The Barako Bull Energy overwhelmed the Powerade Tigers, 117-78, to register the most lopsided win in their franchise's history last Sunday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

It was a bounce back win for Barako Bull, who saw their 4-game winning streak snapped by the Alaska Aces last week.

"In our opening game against Petron, we lost by double digits and we responded well by winning our next four games. We lost to Alaska by 21 points and we responded well again tonight," said Barako head coach Junel Baculi in a PBA.ph interview.

BARAKO Bull registered the most lopsided win in franchise history, wallopping Powerade squad 117-78 Sunday night in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. 

Sunday Salvacion scored 20 points and Willie Miller had 16 on top of five assists in leading the Energy's explosive show and bounce-back performance after a 72-93 loss to Alaska last Wednesday. 

 "In our opening game against Petron, we lost by double digits and we responded well by winning our next four games. We lost to Alaska by 21 points and we responded well again tonight," said Barako coach Junel Baculi.

Barako Bull responded strong after its 22-point loss to Alaska last Wednesday by whipping Powerade, 117-78, in the 2011-12 PBA Philippine Cup at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum on Sunday.

The Energy had a terrific offensive game, leading by as much as 53 points, before the Tigers salvaged some pride to close the gap late in the game.

Sunday Salvacion led all scorers with 20 points, Willie Miller added 16 while Paul Artadi contributed 14, 11 of which came in the first half, when Barako Bull sealed the outcome.

Coach Bo Perasol is pleased with the development of his Powerade Tigers. He said the team is showing encouraging signs that should make them competitive in the league. 

The problem, he emphasized, is that the Tigers still lack consistency to be able maintain their goal and transform into a certified contender.
